What you will do

• Lead the incremental refactoring of existing automation systems to ensure predictability and testability.
• Design and implement a robust, fault-tolerant orchestration framework to handle complex external interface changes.
• Transition legacy automation systems into a decoupled and scalable architecture.
• Develop AI-first internal tools to facilitate scaling the platform from 5M to 50M users.
• Perform deep hands-on technical work (approx. 80% of time) on core product engine development.
• Collaborate directly with the co-founder/CTO on product implementation and architecture.

Requirements

• Must be based in one of the specified Ontario cities (Toronto, Hamilton, Kingston, London, Markham, Ottawa, Waterloo).
• Proven experience as a Founder or Lead Architect at an early-stage startup.
• Deep expertise in system design for offline, asynchronous jobs, state management, and failure retry logic.
• Strong proficiency with TypeScript (Nest.js), GraphQL, and AWS (ECS, EKS, Lambda).
• Analytical mindset focused on success rates and hunting edge cases in complex business logic.
