Lab Support Installation Technician (Telecom/Data Center): Hands-on installation and support of telecommunications and data center equipment across R&D lab environments with an accent on structured cabling, DC power systems, and hardware integration. Focus on installing racks, terminating fiber optics and Ethernet cabling, testing systems, and maintaining lab reliability under innovation demands.

Location: Onsite Ottawa, Canada

Salary: $59,100 - $94,300 annually (Ottawa)

What you will do

  • Install and support telecom and data center equipment in R&D labs
  • Perform physical installation of frames, racks, cabinets, shelves, and hardware
  • Install, terminate, energize, and test DC power cabling from breaker panels
  • Install, terminate, clean, and test communications cabling including Ethernet, fiber optics, coaxial, and BIX
  • Support installation of hirify.global/third-party telecom gear, servers, switches, storage, and PDUs
  • Maintain labeling, documentation, asset records, and ensure compliance with safety and cabling standards

Requirements

  • 5+ years in telecommunications, data center, or R&D lab support
  • Hands-on experience installing/supporting telecom and data center infrastructure
  • Ability to install, terminate, and test structured cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, MPO/MTP fiber)
  • Knowledge of structured cabling standards and DC power systems/breaker panels
  • Physical ability to lift and install heavy equipment
  • College diploma in technician program or equivalent experience

  • Ability to work independently on multiple requests
