Sr Phlebotomist

Sr Phlebotomist (Medical): Serves patients by identifying best methods for retrieving blood, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and performing screening procedures with an accent on maintaining specimen integrity and quality results. Focus on performing venipunctures and finger sticks, tracking collections, resolving unusual test orders, and logistical management of patient reports and courier scheduling.

Location: Onsite in Jersey City, NY (this is not a remote position)

What you will do

• Verify test requisitions and patient identification before obtaining blood specimens via venipunctures and finger sticks.
• Maintain specimen integrity using aseptic techniques and isolation procedures.
• Track collected specimens, record quality-control results, and maintain daily tallies.
• Resolve unusual test orders by contacting physicians or labs and notify supervisor as needed.
• Handle logistical tasks including printing patient reports, answering billing questions, and scheduling courier pickups.
• Work with PHI, complete HIPAA and compliance training within 30 days of hire.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of phlebotomy experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required; BS/BA preferred; Phlebotomy Certificate if required by state.
• Adhere to professional standards, hospital policies, federal/state/local requirements, and JCAHO standards.
• Work in office setting with scrubs required; track each draw.
