What you will do

• Implement an MCP server running on embedded Linux for a network switch platform.
• Design and implement read-only diagnostic tools for interface status, counters, MAC address tables, and ARP/neighbor information.
• Develop functionality for routing table and L3 interface state analysis.
• Create interaction flows that map user prompts to tool calls and structured results.
• Generate actionable diagnostic outputs for issues such as link failures, CRC errors, or VLAN mismatches.

Requirements

• Currently a student of IT or a similar field.
• Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
• Basic knowledge of L2/L3 networking.
• Comfortable working in Linux environments (shell, processes, files, permissions).
• Programming experience in C/C++ or Rust.
• Experience with Git and build tooling such as Make (gcc/clang toolchains).

Nice to have

• Knowledge of German.
