What you will do

• Research how sound can complement visual feedback in modern EW sensor HMIs to reduce cognitive load.
• Explore topics ranging from alerts (Earcons) to the direct translation of raw sensor data into sound (Parameter Mapping).
• Conduct literature reviews, research-through-design, and user studies.
• Develop and test prototypes at varying levels of fidelity.
• Collaborate with experienced engineers to improve situation awareness and usability for operators.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Music Computing, Interaction Design, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Applied Physics.
• Strong interest in Information Visualization, Sound Design, and Signal Processing.
• Competence in design and the ability to prototype using code.
• Must pass a security vetting based on current security protection regulations.
• Additional obligations on citizenship may apply for positions requiring security clearance.
