TL;DR

HR Manager (HR Operations): Maintaining and improving HR functions across Canada and the US with an accent on operations, compliance, payroll, benefits administration, and employee experience. Focus on ensuring compliance with employment laws, processing payroll accurately, managing onboarding/offboarding, and supporting employee engagement initiatives.

Location: Remote from Canada or Calgary, AB; Montreal, QC; Ottawa, ON; Toronto, ON; Vancouver, BC. Must have established work authorization and permanently reside in Canada.

What you will do

  • Maintain employee records in HRIS systems for Canadian and US employees.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including documentation and coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, state employment laws and best practices in Canada and the US.
  • Process payroll, manage benefits enrollments, and liaise with providers.
  • Track work authorizations and visas, assist with audits and reporting.
  • Promote employee engagement, internal communications, and inclusive culture.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of HR experience, including employee relations.
  • Payroll and tax knowledge, plus compliance, leave, and benefits management.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and regulations in Canada and ideally the US.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle fast-paced environment with integrity and confidentiality.

Nice to have

  • Strong knowledge of both Canadian and US HR practices.
