TL;DR

HR Operations Specialist (HR Operations): Managing HR operational activities, compliance, and system optimization across the EMEA region with an accent on payroll oversight and HRIS data integrity. Focus on ensuring audit readiness (SOX), coordinating multi-country European payroll, and streamlining the employee lifecycle from onboarding to offboarding.

Location: Hybrid (2-3 days in office) in Erlangen or Berlin, Germany

What you will do

  • Manage HR compliance and audits across EMEA, including SOX controls and local statutory audits.
  • Maintain the organizational structure and full employee data lifecycle in Workday (HRIS).
  • Oversee payroll processes across multiple EMEA countries, including wage calculations and tax retentions.
  • Handle contractual amendments, fixed-term contracts, and absence/overtime processing.
  • Provide high-quality operational HR guidance to managers and employees.
  • Develop and implement processes to enhance HR Operations effectiveness and reporting.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience in operational HR within an international environment.
  • Fluent in German and English (mandatory).
  • Extensive payroll experience across multiple European countries, with mandatory expertise in German payroll.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience with HRIS systems (Workday is a plus).
  • Proven ability to handle confidential information with high integrity and discretion.
  • Strong organizational skills and a results-driven mindset for fast-paced environments.

Nice to have

  • Proficiency in Dutch, Italian, or Polish.
  • Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Experience with HR shared services models.
  • Knowledge of invoice handling and procurement systems.
