TL;DR
Software Engineer II (Backend - Elixir/Python): Develop, test, and maintain software features and modules within an AI-enabled engineering workflow powering the Hyperlift Stars Platform with an accent on leveraging AI tools to improve development speed, testing, and debugging. Focus on implementing backend services, API development, database schema design, and end-to-end feature ownership in Agile processes.
Location: Hybrid working mode in the United States (US) - gather in office locations (Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; South Bend, IN) three days a week (Tue, Wed, Thu) if near a hub; remote within US otherwise. Remote USA.
Salary: $65,000 to $85,000

What you will do
- Gather feature requirements and participate in technical discussions to define scope and design.
- Implement features and modules using Elixir/Phoenix and/or Python/Flask, following standards.
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate development, testing, and debugging workflows.
- Develop unit, integration, and system tests; own features end-to-end through deployment and support.
- Contribute to database schema design (PostgreSQL), API development, code reviews, and documentation.
- Troubleshoot issues using observability tools and collaborate in Agile processes.
Requirements
- US-based (hybrid/remote within US hubs).
- Proficiency in Elixir/Phoenix and/or Python/Flask; working knowledge of PostgreSQL.
- Experience building/consuming REST APIs, data modeling, backend systems design.
- Familiarity with cloud (Azure/AWS), containers, CI/CD, Terraform/Kubernetes.
- Strong debugging skills with observability tools; collaborative team player.
- Bachelor’s in CS or equivalent; professional backend development experience.
