UI Engineer (Gamedev)

TL;DR

UI Engineer (Unreal Engine): Building and optimizing gameplay-facing UI systems for RuneScape: Dragonwilds with an accent on architecture, scalability, and multiplayer performance. Location: Cambridge, UK (Hybrid/Predominantly remote). Must have permanent right to work in the UK; no visa sponsorship available.

What you will do

• Develop gameplay UI in Unreal using UMG, Common UI, and MVVM.
• Create reusable widgets and frameworks to enable rapid design iteration.
• Connect UI to complex gameplay systems, including abilities, attributes, and cooldowns.
• Refactor legacy UI into maintainable, production-ready systems.
• Collaborate with UX and designers to translate player-facing goals into technical solutions.
• Define UI engineering standards for architecture and Blueprint/C++ usage.

Requirements

• Solid experience with Unreal Engine development, UMG, and Slate.
• Proficiency in Blueprint/C++ integration and the Unreal gameplay framework.
• Experience integrating UI with GAS or similarly complex gameplay and state systems.
• Strong track record of working on multiplayer games.
• Must possess the permanent right to work in the UK.

Nice to have

• Experience with Unreal Viewmodel/MVVM plugin in production.
• Experience with Common UI, input routing, and platform UX.
