About the Role

You will lead and run the regional compliance function for the UK, owning licensing under FSMA and managing all regional compliance operations. You will design and operate customer onboarding, KYC/KYB, AML and sanctions controls, and oversee transaction monitoring and regulatory filings. You will manage responses to regulatory examinations and build strong relationships with regulators. You will supervise regional compliance staff, prioritize tasks under tight deadlines, and report to the Head of Legal, EMENA.

Requirements

• 10+ years of compliance experience including AML sanctions and financial crimes compliance within financial services or a fintech startup
• Experience working in and scaling international expansion of a fintech startup particularly within the UK
• Demonstrated ability to build and oversee complex compliance programs in a growth environment
• Experience working with regional financial regulators including exam management
• Legal / law degree required
• Independent hardworking and driven with ability to work in a delegated environment
• Strong time management and ability to execute tasks within tight deadlines
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills to communicate with regulators and cross‑regional colleagues
• Familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft Suite products
• Crypto experience a plus

Responsibilities

• Manage the regional compliance function with direct focus on the UK
• Lead the UK licensing process under FSMA
• Design implement and manage customer onboarding and ongoing compliance processes including AML and sanctions
• Lead KYB and KYC client onboarding activities
• Oversee transaction monitoring and sanctions compliance
• Manage regulatory filings within the region
• Manage regulatory examination responses and regulatory interactions
• Develop and maintain relationships with regional regulators
• Supervise and manage regional compliance staff
