Senior Backend Engineer (Python): Building and optimizing backend services and data collection pipelines for a global gaming data platform with an accent on reliability, scalability, and high-load data processing. Location: Hybrid in Amsterdam, The Netherlands (3 days per week in office). Must have the right to work in The Netherlands.
Salary: €68,850 – €77,000 gross per year

What you will do
- Design and build backend services and APIs for the analytics platform and client-facing products.
- Own and evolve data collection pipelines ingesting millions of daily data points from gaming platforms.
- Improve infrastructure reliability, observability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Make long-term architectural decisions to ensure system scalability.
- Mentor other engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and pairing.
- Utilize AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor) as a core part of the shipping process.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience building and operating production Python services.
- Deep fluency with Flask (or equivalent) and RESTful API design.
- Expertise in BigQuery and PostgreSQL, specifically regarding storage layout and scan patterns.
- Proven experience designing and running large-scale data pipelines and ETL workflows.
- Right to work in The Netherlands.
- Ability to work hybrid from the Amsterdam office (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays).
Nice to have
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployment.
- Knowledge of task queues such as Celery.
- Experience with gaming platform APIs (Xbox, PlayStation, Steam, Nintendo, Epic).
- Working with dbt at multi-terabyte scale.
