Principal Software Engineer (Data Platforms)

What you will do

• Design and build backend services and data platform components supporting scalable data ingestion, transformation, and access.
• Implement modular, service-oriented architectures including lakehouse-style setups, ELT pipelines, and metadata/lineage/governance capabilities.
• Establish engineering best practices: object-oriented design, TDD, automated testing, secure development lifecycle, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Evaluate and integrate modern data storage/processing technologies.
• Act as technical leader: contribute to architecture, review designs/code, mentor engineers, collaborate in matrixed environment with legacy and modern systems.

Requirements

• Deep proficiency with Node.js and TypeScript in production.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals: OOP, design patterns, API/service design.
• Solid data engineering knowledge: lakehouse architectures, ELT pipelines, data governance, metadata, lineage.
• Experience with modular/microservice systems, TDD, automated testing, CI/CD, DevOps practices, SDL concepts.
• Self-directed with high ownership, strong collaboration and communication skills.

Nice to have

• Exposure to ML platforms (Databricks, AWS Bedrock).
• Familiarity with analytics/BI tools (Tableau, Power BI).
• Experience in media, streaming, or large-scale enterprise environments.
• Prior work modernizing/integrating legacy systems in cloud-native architecture.
