What you will do

• Develop systems that enable AI agents to discover, invoke, and safely execute capabilities at scale.
• Design tool schemas and definition patterns to maximize LLM tool selection accuracy and reliability.
• Build and operate evaluation pipelines to measure tool calling behavior in production and drive quality improvements.
• Collaborate with GenAI, product, and platform teams to integrate agentic capabilities into production systems.
• Advise contributing teams on defining tools that agents can reliably call.
• Mentor engineers on agentic integration patterns and evaluation methodology.

Requirements

• Hands-on production experience with LLM tool-use and function calling.
• Proficiency in Java is essential for backend services infrastructure.
• Experience building systematic evaluation frameworks to measure AI feature quality.
• Proven experience at the boundary of ML and platform engineering to make AI integrations production-grade and scalable.
• Must be based in Australia.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Python or TypeScript.
• Familiarity with MCP, LangChain, LangGraph, or other agent frameworks.
• Experience in prompt engineering specifically for tool definitions and calling schemas.
