Rigger Supervisor

TL;DR

Rigger Supervisor (Broadcast): Supervise safe loading, transportation, and rigging of equipment for hirify.global events and OB vehicles with an accent on legal compliance, vehicle weighing, and site setup. Focus on managing rigging crews, operating generators and comms systems, and maintaining fleet standards under shift rotations.

Location: Manchester, Premier Park OB base (onsite, 35-hour week with early/late shifts and weekend rotation)

Salary: Up to £36,000 depending on skills and experience

Media Operations team delivering news, radio, and sport content across TV, radio, and online platforms from bases in London, Salford, and Birmingham.

What you will do

• Load and transport equipment safely, ensuring vehicles and trailers are legally loaded, weighed, and checked.
• Rig and operate technical equipment including cables, infrastructure, and OB gear on-site.
• Drive, position, stabilize, and interconnect OB vehicles per operational plans.
• Manage site setups, erect support structures, and supervise rigging crews.
• Support communications, power systems with generators, and sound equipment setup.
• Assist stores in picking, loading, transportation, and maintain fleet vehicles and HGVs.

Requirements

• Valid Cat C+E (Class I) licence, CPC, and Driver Qualification Card
• Strong understanding of transport legislation and safety requirements
• Able to work flexibly under pressure in fast-paced production environments with shifts
• Capable of building effective relationships across teams
• Experienced in heavy lifting and manual handling tasks

Nice to have

• Understanding of broadcast equipment principles, especially radio operations
