Summer Internship - Security Engineering

TL;DR

Security Engineering Intern (Cybersecurity): Support the design, implementation, and maintenance of security systems and tooling across infrastructure with an accent on deployment and configuration of security tools including SIEM, EDR, and AI detection. Focus on infrastructure security efforts such as architecture reviews, threat modeling, automation of security processes, and vulnerability management.

What you will do

• Assist with deployment and configuration of security tools like SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management, and AI detection platforms.
• Support infrastructure security through architecture reviews and threat modeling for services.
• Integrate security tooling across cloud environments for better visibility and protection.
• Collaborate to automate security processes using Python or Bash scripting.
• Participate in security assessments and vulnerability management.
• Research emerging cybersecurity technologies and document processes and findings.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in Bachelor or Masters in Computer Science, Information Security, Cybersecurity, or related field.
• Basic understanding of networking (TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, VPNs).
• Foundational knowledge of operating systems (Linux and/or Windows).
• Familiarity with scripting/programming (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) and core security concepts (authentication, encryption, access control).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to collaborate in a team.

Nice to have

• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and security features.
• Experience with tools like Splunk, CrowdStrike, Tenable.
• Familiarity with DevSecOps, container security (Kubernetes, Docker), CI/CD.
• CTF participation or security clubs.
• Knowledge of OWASP Top 10, MITRE ATT&CK.
• Certifications like CompTIA Security+, AWS Cloud Practitioner.
