TL;DR
Lead Computer Vision Engineer (Defence): Architecting sophisticated CV systems for high-stakes defence applications with an accent on bridging cutting-edge research and real-world deployment. Location: UK only - must be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC). 2-4 days per week on-site with clients (may require travel throughout the UK); otherwise, work from London office or remotely from elsewhere within the UK.

What you will do
- Deliver hands-on computer vision work and architect technical solutions for complex defence project requirements.
- Lead technical delivery of CV projects, providing expert guidance to multidisciplinary teams across the development lifecycle.
- Contribute CV expertise to business bids, identifying opportunities to integrate advanced visual intelligence into client solutions.
- Master SOTA CV developments, share best practices, and represent the organisation as a subject matter expert.
- Partner with leadership to define CV technical strategy and own capability development in the defence domain.
- Mentor team members, fostering continuous learning and technical excellence.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of SOTA Computer Vision and AI approaches, applying ML and classical CV techniques to real-world problems.
- Experience as technical leader architecting system architectures with minimal oversight.
- Proven track record deploying CV models to production, handling performance and latency challenges.
- Collaborative mindset to communicate technical concepts to specialists and non-technical clients.
- Strong Python experience, including OOP and low-level components when needed.
- Passion for capability building through R&D or mentorship.
