What you will do
- Support editorial planning and production to ensure timely and distinctive programme content.
- Lead daily editorial meetings and guide producers, researchers, and reporters.
- Write and edit scripts, headlines, and graphics with editorial accuracy.
- Coordinate breaking news coverage with UK and international teams.
- Collaborate with on-air talent on interviews, monologues, and discussions.
- Oversee integration of live reports, guests, and video packages; deputise for the Editor.
Requirements
- Proven experience in senior editorial role in live news or current affairs broadcasting.
- Deep understanding of UK news, politics, culture, plus US and international affairs.
- Excellent editorial judgement and track record under tight deadlines.
- Outstanding scriptwriting and sub-editing skills.
- Confidence handling breaking news and live broadcast teams.
- Strong leadership to motivate junior staff; flexibility for late hours and weekends.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with digital news platforms and social media.
- Experience in transatlantic or international news.
- Knowledge of UK broadcast compliance like Ofcom.
