What you will do

• Create 2D preliminary and submittal drawings in AutoCAD from architectural plans, specs, and accessories.
• Develop seating layouts maximizing capacity while adhering to building codes and safety standards.
• Verify code compliance on returned drawings from architects and owners.
• Support stock billing and design/engineering with CAD drawings during detailed design phases.
• Maintain and improve drawing standards, templates, and detail libraries for product standardization.
• Collaborate with leads, billers, and engineers to clarify requirements and ensure installation accuracy.

Requirements

• On-site in Kalamazoo, MI
• High school diploma; CAD certificate or Associate degree in CAD/Design Technology preferred.
• 1–3 years design/drafting experience, ideally in building products, structural steel, or similar.
• Strong 2D AutoCAD skills (layers, blocks, xrefs, paper/model space).
• Ability to read architectural drawings and create accurate seating layouts.
• Familiarity with architectural and mechanical concepts; welding knowledge and manufacturing terms (BOM) a plus.

Nice to have

• 3D CAD experience.
• Structural/mechanical design knowledge (loads, clearances, constructability).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
