Audio Technician

Location: Alexandria, Virginia, United States — on-site. Occasional evenings, nights, weekends, and irregular hours may be required based on project needs.

What you will do

• Set up and operate microphones, mixing consoles, signal processors, and recording software.
• Record music, voiceovers, podcasts, broadcasts, and other audio content while monitoring levels, adjusting EQ, and managing signal flow.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and track audio equipment and software inventory, recommending upgrades or replacements.
• Set up and break down audio equipment and optimize speaker systems for live events and broadcasts.
• Collaborate with producers, directors, team members, and clients to achieve the required sound and production goals.
• Prepare weekly and monthly reports on completed work, projects, equipment status, issues, and process improvements while following safety, copyright, and licensing requirements.

Requirements

• Entry-level position requiring 3+ years of experience in a professional recording studio or broadcast environment.
• Strong understanding of signal flow, audio routing, and patching.
• Knowledge of EQ, compression, reverb, and other audio processing effects.
• Familiarity with microphone types, placement techniques, and recording environments.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, attention-to-detail, and deadline-management skills.
• Ability to lift and move audio equipment and to sit or stand for extended periods.
