Focus on defining platform strategies, executing hardware refreshes, resilience improvements, and driving simplification and automation in enterprise platforms.

Location: Hybrid in Manchester or London (at least two days per week or 40% of time in office)

Salary: £92,701 – £109,060 (Manchester) | £107,304 – £126,240 (London)

What you will do

• Lead and develop engineering teams for enterprise-class infrastructure, setting technical direction and fostering engineering culture
• Own technical integrity, availability, resilience, and security of core banking platforms
• Define and execute platform strategies including hardware refresh, software updates, resilience improvements, and decommissioning
• Act as senior technical authority during incidents, change design, risk management, and assurance
• Lead major change initiatives with high-quality execution, risk assessment, and implementation planning
• Partner with application teams, architects, security, and suppliers to enable safe delivery and continuous improvement
• Drive simplification, automation, operational efficiency, financial management, and team capability development

Requirements

• Leading engineering teams accountable for enterprise-level infrastructure in regulated, high-availability settings
• Strong hands-on understanding of mainframe or midrange platforms (e.g. Unisys, IBM Z, Non-Stop)
• Ownership of platform strategy, lifecycle management, and technical roadmaps
• Experience managing complex change, incidents, and senior stakeholder engagement
• Solid understanding of resilience, security, and operational risk in financial services or regulated industries
