HW Project Leader (Automotive)

TL;DR

HW Project Leader (Automotive): Lead hardware development for IVI and telematics systems with an accent on technical leadership, customer interfacing, and global project coordination. Location: Hybrid in Ulm, Germany or Bucharest, Romania. Availability to work flexibly from office and remotely; willingness to travel 10-25% German & international.

What you will do

• Lead hardware development projects for automotive infotainment and telematics, including safety-critical aspects.
• Steer local and remote HW teams (Bucharest, Shanghai) in cooperation with managers and act as customer interface for HW topics.
• Represent HW Project Manager in meetings with customers and suppliers; support conception, specs, and documentation.
• Perform requirement engineering, change management, DFMEA, feasibility analysis, BOM estimates, and cost-down measures.
• Realize system designs and schematics integration; collaborate globally with construction, quality, manufacturing, and software teams.
• Analyze specs, generate work packages, conduct design reviews, and report project status to management.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or equivalent.
• 5+ years in HW development, verification, and industrialization of automotive infotainment, telematics, or similar ECUs.
• Experience in project management and technical lead of HW teams.
• Knowledge of schematic/layout tools (Mentor Graphics, SPICE), Microsoft apps, defect management (Jira).
• Strong verbal and written English skills.
• Analytical problem-solving, ability to articulate technical topics, structured working style, cross-functional collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience in analogue, digital, RF designs, especially wireless/telematics.
• Requirements management (DOORS, DNG, ALM).
