HW Project Leader (m/f/d) (Automotive IVI & Telematics)

Location: Ulm, Baden-Württemberg, Germany or Bucharest, Romania; flexible work from the office and remotely, with 10–25% travel within Germany and internationally.

What you will do

• Lead hardware development projects for automotive infotainment, telematics, connectivity, and related ECU systems.
• Lead local hardware project teams and coordinate distributed teams in Bucharest and Shanghai with local managers.
• Act as the customer interface for hardware topics and represent the Hardware Project Manager in internal and external meetings.
• Analyze customer requirements and OEM specifications, prepare work packages, perform feasibility and cost evaluations, and support risk management.
• Develop system designs, schematics, and hardware functional blocks from simple to medium complexity throughout the development process.
• Coordinate requirements engineering, change management, DFMEA, design reviews, verification, industrialization, maintenance support, and project-status reporting.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related engineering field.
• At least 5 years of experience in hardware development, verification, and industrialization of in-vehicle infotainment, telematics, connectivity systems, or similarly complex automotive ECUs.
• Experience with project management and technical leadership of hardware teams.
• Knowledge of schematic, layout, and simulation tools such as Mentor Graphics and SPICE, plus Microsoft applications.
• Knowledge of defect-management tools such as Jira or similar ticket-based systems, as well as requirements-management tools such as DOORS, DNG, or ALM.
• Strong written and verbal English skills, analytical problem-solving abilities, and the ability to communicate and defend complex engineering decisions.

Nice to have

• Experience with analogue, digital, and RF design, especially wireless applications, mobile network technologies, or telematics systems.
• Experience with requirements management using DOORS, DNG, or ALM.
