TL;DR

Senior Medical Director, Medical Affairs (Rare Disease): Lead development and execution of Medical Affairs strategy and tactical plans for assigned franchise with an accent on KOL relationships, MSL team leadership, and cross-functional partnerships. Focus on building aligned medical strategies, supporting clinical trials and launches, and providing strategic medical input to commercial activities.

Location: Fully Remote (US). Ability and willingness to travel at least 60% of workdays required.

What you will do

  • Develop and execute Medical Affairs strategies and plans aligned with US brand needs for commercialized and late-stage assets.
  • Build and maintain relationships with KOLs, scientific experts, and study sites; educate healthcare professionals on therapies.
  • Lead and manage Medical Science Liaison (MSL) team, including recruitment, onboarding, performance, and field coaching.
  • Collaborate with Commercial, Clinical Development, and other teams to support launches, brand strategies, and clinical trial enrollment.
  • Provide medical input on promotional materials, investigator-initiated research, and patient advocacy initiatives.
  • Deliver internal training and report on team activities to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • MD degree required.
  • 5-10 years clinical practice experience; additional 5-10 years in clinical research, pharma, or related fields.
  • 5+ years Global or US Medical Affairs experience, preferably in Neuromuscular or Rare Disease areas, with MSL team management.
  • Knowledge of biostatistics, epidemiology; understanding of pharma commercial environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and strategic thinking skills; experience in full-cycle talent management and launches.
  • 60%+ travel required; work outside normal hours including weekends.
