TL;DR
Platform Power Thermal Performance Intern (IO Performance): Developing and optimizing Xeon AI performance across diverse product segments with an accent on I/O validation, KPI analysis, and bottleneck identification. What you will do
- Execute I/O performance validation and analyze KPIs including throughput, IOPS, and latency.
- Identify performance gaps and bottlenecks across silicon, firmware, OS, driver, and application layers.
- Drive debugging using hypothesis-based analysis and propose optimization ideas to evaluate improvements.
- Support local product I/O performance development and platform-level validation for key programs.
- Assist China CSP customers with I/O performance co-validation and resolve issues from a PTP perspective.
- Mitigate single-point-of-failure risks by contributing to coverage in NIC, NVMe, and GPU I/O domains.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer/Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- Solid knowledge of CPU and system architecture, specifically PCIe.
- Proficiency in Linux fundamentals, including command line and process/file system basics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Good English verbal and writing skills for collaboration with global stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience with operating systems, kernel, storage stack, networking, or AI GPU systems.
- Familiarity with performance profiling methodologies and experimental design.
- Knowledge of I/O benchmarking tools (e.g., FIO) and system performance tools.
- Understanding of modern I/O software paths or direct GPU AI system design.
