Senior Platform Engineer (Go)

TL;DR

Senior Platform Engineer (Go/Kubernetes): Designing and enhancing a high-scale Kubernetes platform to ensure reliability and stable performance across diverse services with an accent on K8s internals and open-source customizations. Focus on building CI/CD pipelines, implementing GitOps, and optimizing cluster infrastructure for high-load environments.

Location: Remote (Worldwide). Must be able to overlap with 1-2 p.m. EST. Must be able to sign a contract and legally receive payment from a US entity.

Salary: $8,000–$12,000 per month net

What you will do

• Analyze requirements from development and SRE teams to enhance the Kubernetes-based platform.
• Develop missing functionality for open-source K8s components and manage CI/CD pipelines for regressions and releases.
• Collaborate with upstream maintainers to integrate customizations and port bug fixes.
• Perform zero-downtime upgrades and test new versions of platform components in production.
• Identify and stage potential replacements for current platform components to improve efficiency.
• Assist SRE and development teams with automation, diagnostics, and GitOps implementation.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience running Kubernetes in production.
• 2+ years of Golang development.
• Deep understanding of Kubernetes APIs, control plane, and Kubelet inner workings.
• Proficiency with GitOps principles and tools like Argo CD or Flux.
• Experience with reverse proxies (Envoy, HAProxy, or Nginx) and LVS to implement external ingress.
• Ability to automate infrastructure, create Prometheus monitoring, and manage Elasticsearch/Loki stacks.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Kube-router, BGP protocol, and Linux firewall.
• Experience with Kubeadm, Puppet, Rook, or Ceph for cluster bootstrapping and state persistence.
• Familiarity with Java and Kubernetes Native frameworks like Quarkus.
• Experience with Bare Metal on-prem (preferred) or cloud providers like GCP/AWS.
• Contributions to Kubernetes-related open-source projects written in Golang.
