Software Engineer (AI) (LLM/RAG): Building and optimizing state-of-the-art LLM-powered agents that reason, plan, and automate workflows with an accent on retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and search relevance. Focus on designing retrieval pipelines, developing evaluation frameworks, and scaling agentic workflows to ensure high-quality insight generation.

Location: Hybrid (Office-First). Must be based in or able to work from hubs in Toronto, Vancouver, or London.

What you will do

• Design and implement RAG systems with agentic workflows for query understanding and response synthesis.
• Build and optimize retrieval pipelines using BM25, dense, hybrid retrieval, and re-ranking.
• Develop evaluation pipelines using offline metrics (recall, MRR, nDCG) and human-in-the-loop methods.
• Collaborate with Product teams to bring ML-powered search agents into production.
• Optimize latency, accuracy, and scalability of retrieval and generation components.
• Contribute to data pipelines for training retrieval and ranking models.

Requirements

• Software engineering experience with expertise in Python.
• Experience with information retrieval systems, search relevance, and ranking models.
• Proficiency in ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or JAX.
• Familiarity with LLMs, prompt engineering, and RAG pipelines.
• Experience with vector databases (FAISS, Milvus, Pinecone, etc.) and search engines (Elasticsearch).
• Experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and CI/CD pipelines.

Nice to have

• Experience with agentic system design for LLM workflows.
• Background in conversational search.
• Open-source contributions to retrieval, NLP, or LLM ecosystems.
