What you will do
- Own the end-to-end technical direction for the Session Replay product across frontend, backend, and data systems.
- Drive the evolution of backend architecture, specifically designing systems for columnar/analytical data storage.
- Define data models, ingestion pipelines, and query patterns for large-scale session data.
- Lead the design of investigation workflows that integrate replay with logs, metrics, and traces across Grafana Cloud.
- Make high-leverage architectural decisions affecting multiple teams and products.
- Mentor engineers and grow technical leadership within the squad.
Requirements
- Must be located in the US or Canada within EST or CT timezones.
- Ability to reason about data-intensive systems, including ingestion, storage, and querying cost trade-offs.
- Experience owning features in ambiguous problem spaces using a user-centered approach.
- Proficiency in Golang, TypeScript, and React.
- English: C1 proficiency required to communicate design decisions clearly in written and spoken form.
Nice to have
- Experience with columnar or analytical databases.
- Familiarity with observability tools such as Grafana, Datadog, New Relic, or Sentry.
- Background in building debugging or developer-focused tools.
- Experience working on performance-sensitive systems with large datasets.
