TL;DR

Big Data Software Engineer (AWS/GCP): Building and supporting scalable data products for TV, Broadband, and Digital Voice services with an accent on multi-cloud environments and engineering excellence. Location: Hybrid (3 days a week in office, 2 days from anywhere) in Belfast, Birmingham, or London

What you will do

• Contribute to the development and support of scalable data products for business stakeholders.
• Participate in agile development processes including story planning, estimation, and retrospectives.
• Implement continual improvements regarding process automation, operational monitoring, and security.
• Collaborate with designers, analysts, and other software engineers on solution designs.
• Provide technical guidance to offshore Development and Operational Support teams.
• Improve solution reliability through automated testing and deployment pipelines.

Requirements

• Proficiency in SQL, Python, Java, and/or Scala development.
• Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Experience in a development or support role within a data/software team.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a story-driven agile environment.
• Strong knowledge of software engineering best practices.
• Must be based in or able to commute to Belfast, Birmingham, or London for hybrid work.

Nice to have

• Experience with on-premise platforms like Cloudera.
• Knowledge of Big Data technologies: Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Kinesis, BigQuery, Dataflow, or BigTable.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) toolsets.
• Experience with CI/CD strategies and Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence).
• Software version control experience using Git or SVN.
