What you will do

• Lead physicochemical characterization of drug substances using techniques such as XRD, DSC/TGA, Raman spectroscopy, and SEM.
• Evaluate drug properties including solubility, pKa, logP, and hygroscopicity to inform formulation strategy.
• Design and interpret excipient compatibility studies to ensure product stability and shelf life.
• Partner cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams to address formulation and process challenges.
• Manage relationships with external partners supporting analytical testing, due diligence, and innovation.
• Implement risk assessments for critical material attributes (CMAs) to ensure consistent product quality.

Requirements

• Degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field.
• Experience: PhD (5+ years), Master's (5-10+ years), or Bachelor's (10-15+ years) in R&D and/or product development.
• 2-5+ years of prior people management experience with the ability to lead technical teams.
• Deep understanding of physical chemistry, thermodynamics, and Biopharmaceutical Classification System (BCS) principles.
• Must be based in the United States.
