Staff Software Engineer (Billing)

Salary: $170,350 – $275,550 (US range guideline; actual compensation determined by location, level, skills, and experience)

What you will do

• Own and evolve infrastructure for Billing Platform services: compute, storage, networking, CI/CD, and observability
• Design and maintain IaC (Terraform) for billing system on AWS; set module patterns and standards
• Build and own observability systems with focus on billing accuracy and payment reliability
• Define deployment patterns and runbooks optimized for AI-agent-assisted development workflows
• Partner with software engineers on service design, incorporating infrastructure constraints early
• Lead incident response for billing issues, own on-call rotation and postmortems; mentor team members

Requirements

• 8+ years in platform, infrastructure, or SRE roles supporting production SaaS at scale
• Deep AWS expertise: ECS/EKS, RDS (Postgres), networking, IAM, cost management
• Expert-level Terraform for reusable modules and standards
• Experience building/owning observability stacks (Datadog, Grafana) at organizational level
• Strong CI/CD familiarity (Jenkins, GitHub Actions); Kubernetes operational/architectural knowledge
• Strong written English
• Security-first mindset; track record driving cross-team improvements

Nice to have

• Experience with billing, payments, or financial systems infrastructure
• Thinking about infrastructure for AI agents generating/shipping code
