TL;DR
EU Advocacy Assistant: Support the EU Advocacy team in advancing policy priorities on refugee and migration issues, humanitarian aid, and development cooperation with an accent on policy monitoring, research, and advocacy products. Focus on tracking EU institutions, drafting briefings and position papers, and providing administrative coordination.
Location: Hybrid position with expected presence in Brussels office (minimum 2-3 days per week). Candidates must have the right to work in Belgium at the time of application.

What you will do
- Monitor EU policy developments on migration, asylum, refugees, humanitarian aid, and development cooperation
- Conduct desk research and prepare background analyses on EU policy issues
- Draft advocacy materials including briefings, position papers, talking points, and policy notes
- Prepare materials for meetings with EU stakeholders and support advocacy initiatives
- Maintain internal tracking tools, databases, and support organization of meetings and events
- Handle note-taking, follow-up actions, and monitor the IRC Brussels inbox
Requirements
- Authorized to work in Belgium
- Strong interest in EU policy, humanitarian action, migration, and refugee issues
- Strong research, analytical, written and verbal communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and work independently or in a team
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Fluent written and spoken English
Nice to have
- Academic background in political science, EU studies, international relations, or law
- French or any other EU language
