TL;DR

Manufacturing Engineer, Additive (DED) (Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing): Bridging customer requirements and production-ready DED manufacturing solutions with an accent on Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM), process development, and scaling DED programs. Focus on solving real-world DED manufacturing challenges, optimizing end-to-end workflows, and ensuring qualification for flight-critical hardware.

Location: Los Angeles, CA. U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident required for ITAR compliance.

Salary: $135,000 - $200,000

What you will do

  • Translate customer requirements into actionable manufacturing plans and feasible DED solutions.
  • Provide DfAM guidance regarding deposition strategy, feature design, and distortion risk.
  • Define and optimize workflows across design, deposition, post-processing, and inspection.
  • Partner with internal teams to industrialize DED capabilities and refine process parameters.
  • Support qualification planning, validation builds, and data package development for customer approval.
  • Investigate quality issues using root cause analysis to improve yield and consistency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 4+ years of experience in additive manufacturing, specifically with metallic DED technologies.
  • Hands-on knowledge of metal DED production workflows and welding metallurgy.
  • Proficiency with engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerance interpretation.
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident required for ITAR compliance.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15-20% within the U.S.

Nice to have

  • Experience with AS9100, NASA, or ESA aerospace manufacturing standards.
  • Expertise in high-performance alloys such as Nickel, Titanium, or Copper.
  • Knowledge of robotic toolpath programming, CAM systems, or thermal-mechanical modeling.
  • Familiarity with conventional processes like CNC machining, casting, or forging.
