What you will do

• Lead the design and development of backend systems for ingesting health record data from EHRs and third-party platforms.
• Architect and implement robust data pipelines to clean, normalize, and structure complex health datasets.
• Design and maintain secure, scalable APIs to expose health data to internal systems and member-facing features.
• Define and enforce access control mechanisms and data governance to ensure privacy and healthcare regulatory compliance.
• Drive technical decision-making and architecture to ensure system reliability and extensibility.
• Mentor other engineers and collaborate cross-functionally with product and data science teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience building and operating backend systems and APIs in production.
• Experience with healthcare data standards (e.g., FHIR) and external health data integration.
• Strong understanding of data privacy and security models for sensitive health information.
• Proficiency in Java (or similar), relational databases (Postgres), and cloud infrastructure (AWS).
• Experience with distributed systems and designing for high availability.
• Must be based in or be able to relocate to the Boston, MA office.
