Physician Coder (Orthopedics)

Focus on maximizing reimbursement, achieving 95% accuracy rate, researching complex coding scenarios, and staying current on orthopedic-specific guidelines.

What you will do

• Review and accurately code Orthopedic Surgery and E/M cases to maximize reimbursement.
• Code E/M visits, office procedures, joint injections, and fracture care.
• Work independently, research coding scenarios, and meet daily production and 95% quality goals.
• Communicate with leadership on coding issues, attend meetings, and provide feedback.
• Stay current on coding guidelines, maintain credentials, and expand skills into other orthopedic subspecialties.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School diploma required; Associates or BS preferred.
• AHIMA or AAPC certification (CPC or CCS-P required; CPC-A not accepted), active and in good standing.
• Minimum 3 years recent hands-on physician coding experience in Orthopedics (surgeries, E/M, office procedures).
• Proficient in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10, modifiers, disease processes, surgical techniques, Medicare/Medicaid policies.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, EHR, and billing systems.

Nice to have

• Experience working remotely.

• Epic and Cerner PowerChart experience.
• Google Workspace experience.
