Location: Onsite in Warren, Michigan. GM does not provide immigration sponsorship.

What you will do
- Design, implement, and commission controls solutions for robotic cells and automation projects following GM standards and GCCH guidelines.
- Develop and maintain PLC, HMI, and control logic including function blocks, fault handling, and diagnostics.
- Integrate industrial robots (e.g., FANUC) with PLCs, safety systems, and field devices to meet functional, safety, and throughput requirements.
- Apply safety standards, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with codes like ISO 10218.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define control requirements, I/O, and network architecture for development and pilot systems.
- Support system bring-up, debug, optimization, and provide documentation and knowledge transfer to manufacturing teams.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3+ years in industrial controls/robotics engineering with commissioning experience in manufacturing.
- Hands-on experience programming/integrating industrial robots/cobots (FANUC, Universal Robots, KUKA, ABB).
- Strong PLC/HMI programming and industrial networks (Rockwell/Allen-Bradley preferred, EtherNet/IP, Profinet).
- Experience with safety-related systems (safety PLCs, interlocks, ISO 10218/TS 15066) and validation.
- Ability to read/create schematics, support panel build/debug; E-plan experience; troubleshooting skills.
Nice to have
- 5+ years in automotive/high-volume automation; cobot deployments near operators.
- GM standards knowledge (GCCH, GCCS); vision/force control integration.
- CODESYS/soft PLC; simulation/digital twin tools (ROS/ROS2); standardization/mentoring.
