What you will do

  • Build and maintain observability tooling for root-cause analysis of robot performance in real-world deployments.
  • Develop "debug + replay" systems for collecting, curating, and replaying robot logs, events, and telemetry.
  • Own foundations for structured logging and application replay systems to make development scalable.
  • Improve on-robot metrics generation and integrate visualization tools like Foxglove for effective triage.
  • Optimize data management pipelines, including upload flows, retention policies, and indexing.
  • Mentor others on best practices for instrumentation, debugging, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Degree in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong proficiency in C++ and Python.
  • Experience with robotics, including reading autonomy logs and reasoning about robot state.
  • Proven experience building observability systems (metrics, tracing, event pipelines, dashboards).
  • Familiarity with diagnosing distributed or real-time systems via profiling and postmortems.
  • Location: Must be based in Austin, Texas, United States

Nice to have

  • Experience with Foxglove or similar robotics visualization and telemetry tooling.
  • Knowledge of ROS bags or equivalent log replay systems.
  • Experience with data pipelines (capture, upload, storage, indexing, and retrieval).
