What you will do

• Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs, including management, analysis, and verification tasks.
• Analyze engineering hardware, mechanical and electrical drawings to assess fault tolerance and latent hazards.
• Design concise, testable safety requirements and ensure their integration across development teams.
• Collaborate with Program Management and government approval authorities from program startup through disposal.
• Mentor junior engineers and brief program safety at technical reviews.
• Prepare Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for customer approval.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
• 12 years of relevant software engineering experience.
• Active and transferrable final U.S. government issued Secret security clearance.
• Experience in Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical, or Firmware Engineering.

Nice to have

• Experience with DoD System Safety Programs (e.g., MIL-STD-882 / DO-178).
• Experience with system and software safety implementation in Agile Development environments.
• Knowledge of Human Factors Engineering tasking involving MIL-STD-1472.
• Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development.
• Familiarity with Engineering Change Proposals and Engineering Review Boards.
