Safety Engineer (Defense-Aerospace)

TL;DR

Safety Engineer (Defense-Aerospace): Assisting with and implementing MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs, performing safety tasks and analyses across management, analysis, evaluation, and verification series. Focus on assessing engineering hardware and electrical drawings for fault tolerance and hazards, developing testable safety requirements, and collaborating with integrated product teams to eliminate hazards.

Location: Tewksbury, MA (onsite). Active and transferable final U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required.

Pay Rate: up to $74/hr (W2, non-benefited)

What you will do

• Implement MIL-STD-882E system safety programs and perform related tasks and analyses.
• Analyze engineering hardware, electrical drawings, and schematics for safety compliance and hazards.
• Work with test procedures and integrated product teams to eliminate hazards or implement controls.
• Design testable safety requirements and perform safety analyses.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, prepare safety reports and briefs, and brief at technical reviews.
• Review system requirements, specifications, and military standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in STEM and 2 years of relevant experience in Safety, Systems, Software, Electrical, or Firmware Engineering.
• Active and transferable U.S. Secret security clearance.
• Experience with Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical or Firmware Engineering.

Nice to have

• Experience with DoD System Safety Programs (MIL-STD-882, DO-178).
• System and software safety in Agile environments.
• Human Systems Integration and MIL-STD-1472.
• Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal Development.
• Familiarity with Engineering Change Proposals, Review Boards, and Safety Working Groups.
