What you will do

• Own key parts of retrieval or ranking scope and contribute across the stack as the team grows.
• Design, build, and deploy hybrid search systems balancing relevance, latency, and scale for generative domain name search.
• Lead technical direction in retrieval (index design, query parsing, strategies) or ranking (learning-to-rank, multi-objective optimization).
• Lead embedding model selection, post-training optimization, and evaluation for semantic retrieval and ranking.
• Collaborate with engineers, data scientists, and product managers to translate product ideas into technical approaches including build vs. buy decisions.

Requirements

• 7+ years in machine learning engineering, with 2+ years focused on search, retrieval, ranking, or recommendation systems
• Experience building production search or ranking systems end-to-end.
• Depth in retrieval (indexing, vector search), ranking (learning-to-rank, multi-objective optimization), or embeddings; LLM integration is a plus.
• Comfort owning strategy, shaping roadmap, and building high-quality solutions.
• Strong architectural judgment to evaluate tradeoffs and communicate to stakeholders.
• Proven ability deploying and operating ML systems at scale for reliability, performance, and quality.
