Salary: USD $119,800 – $234,700 per year (or USD $158,400 – $258,000 per year for San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area)

What you will do

• Build and own production machine learning models to improve results.
• Work hands-on with SOTA generative models like Qwen, Llama, Mistral, and GPT.
• Find insights and form hypotheses on large-scale data using machine learning, feature engineering, statistical, and data mining techniques.
• Perform professional prompt engineering with large LLMs.
• Design experiments, understand resulting data, and produce actionable, trustworthy conclusions.
• Wrangle large amounts of data (petabytes) using various tools and programming languages including Python, C#, R, C++, Java, and SQL.
• Take complex problems and associated data to provide concise answers to assist senior executives in making key business decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree + 4+ years, Master's Degree + 3+ years, or Doctorate + 1+ year of experience in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Expertise in Machine Learning, Generative AI, Agentic Modeling, Data Science, or related areas.
• Hands-on experience working with LLMs or SLMs such as Qwen, Llama or its variants.
• Professional working experience on prompt engineering with large LLMs like GPT, Gemini, or Claude.
• Proficiency in programming languages like Python, C#, R, C++, Java, and SQL for data wrangling.
• Must live within a 50-mile commute of a designated Microsoft office in the U.S. and work from the office at least four days per week (starting January 26, 2026).
