Senior Gas Trader (Energy Trading)

Location: Rotterdam, Netherlands; physical presence in the office is essential.

Salary: €110,000–€170,000 gross annual salary, including FlexBudget and an 8% holiday allowance, with a possible bonus or collective profit sharing.

What you will do

• Develop and execute proprietary gas trading strategies across short- and longer-term horizons.
• Trade European gas markets with exposure to Asian LNG through JKM and North American natural gas through Henry Hub.
• Manage meaningful risk positions within defined Value at Risk limits and handle drawdowns with discipline.
• Own P&L performance and contribute to desk-level trading results.
• Translate supply, demand, flows, geopolitics, and cross-market linkages into actionable trades.
• Collaborate with traders and analysts to validate ideas, improve execution, and strengthen desk performance.

Requirements

• Around 5–10 years of trading experience, including at least 3 years in a proprietary trading environment.
• Recent and relevant proprietary trading experience with real risk capital and consistent results.
• Quantitative or economics-based academic background.
• Experience managing significant positions, drawdowns, risk limits, and P&L accountability.
• Strong understanding of gas market fundamentals, JKM and Henry Hub pricing dynamics, and LNG contract structures.
• Ability to work physically from the Rotterdam office in the Netherlands.

Nice to have

• Experience trading cross-commodity spreads.
• Knowledge of LNG shipping economics and chartering.
• Experience at utilities, trading houses, banks, or funds.
