TL;DR

Sr. Engineer - Electro Optical (Space): Design and development of electro-optical payloads for Earth observation satellite systems with an accent on imaging systems, telescopes, detectors, and interfaces with thermal, structural, and electronics sub-systems. Focus on defining system requirements, optical design analysis, performance simulation, payload integration, environmental testing, and validation.

What you will do

  • Participate in design and development of spaceborne electro-optical imaging systems including telescopes, detectors, and imaging electronics.
  • Define and verify system-level requirements like resolution, SNR, MTF, dynamic range, and radiometric accuracy.
  • Perform optical design analysis, stray light modeling, and performance simulation using Zemax, Code V, or equivalent.
  • Collaborate with vendors for payload selection, interface definition, and performance evaluation.
  • Contribute to payload integration, environmental testing, data analysis, and correlation with design models.
  • Develop performance budgets, support AIT campaigns, troubleshooting, and maintain documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in optics/physics or related engineering field.
  • 5+ years of experience in design and development of EO payloads or optical systems for space applications.
  • Experience with Zemax/Code V or equivalent optical design and analysis software.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with detectors and imaging sensors (CCD/CMOS, TDI, SWIR, MWIR, LWIR).
  • Knowledge of electronic interfaces, data acquisition, and onboard image processing.
  • Familiarity with space standards (NASA, ESA) and space-grade components.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration skills.
