Accounts Payable Associate (Finance)

TL;DR

Accounts Payable Associate (Finance): Managing end-to-end payment operations within the Purchase-to-Pay process for newly acquired SaaS companies with an accent on payment execution, bank reconciliation, and internal controls. Focus on establishing the Payments function within the new Finance Excellence Centre and automating operations via NetSuite.

Location: Hybrid (Lisbon, Portugal). Must have right to work in Portugal; no sponsorship provided.

What you will do

• Execute domestic and international payment runs (SEPA, SWIFT) ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare and authorize payment batches in NetSuite following dual-control and segregation of duties principles.
• Perform daily bank reconciliations and resolve payment exceptions or discrepancies promptly.
• Collaborate with vendors, banks, and internal stakeholders to handle payment queries and escalations.
• Support month-end closing and AP sub-ledger reconciliations to the general ledger.
• Contribute to payment automation and the ongoing NetSuite implementation and banking integration projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or similar.
• Up to 3 years of mandatory experience in Payments.
• Fluency in English is mandatory.
• Proof of eligibility to work in Portugal is required; sponsorship visas are not supported.
• Solid understanding of European GAAP and IFRS.

Nice to have

• Experience in an international Finance environment or Shared Service Centre (SSC) setup.
• Fluency in additional European languages such as French, Dutch, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Greek, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, or Swedish.
