What you will do

• Design and evolve high-performance backend services for core product flows.
• Own services end-to-end, from architecture and implementation to observability and production reliability.
• Address distributed systems challenges related to latency, resilience, and scalability.
• Develop components capable of handling loads up to 50k RPS.
• Collaborate with product, infrastructure, and data teams to deliver measurable business impact.

Requirements

• Strong fundamentals in algorithms, data structures, and concurrency.
• Production experience in backend engineering and microservice-based systems.
• Deep understanding of scalable architectures and distributed systems trade-offs.
• Expertise in designing robust APIs and service boundaries.
• Experience with databases, asynchronous processing, and event-driven systems.
• Work authorization or ability to obtain a work permit for Cyprus.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in Java or ability to ramp up quickly.
• Experience with Kafka or similar event-driven technologies.
• Knowledge of relational databases, caching layers, and cloud infrastructure (GCP).
• Background in high-scale consumer products (live-streaming, AI, fintech).
• Experience using AI tools in engineering workflows.
