Game Design Intern (Gamedev)

TL;DR

Game Design Intern (Gamedev): Developing combat encounters and gameplay activities for an open-world game with an accent on flexible layout creation and node-based scripting. Focus on crafting compelling combat spaces and providing design feedback to the Art Team to enhance player engagement.

Location: On-site in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Candidates must be currently enrolled in a Dutch school and be within commuting distance from the studio.

What you will do

• Combine premade combat encounters and layouts to ensure flexibility and reusability.
• Perform gameplay scene setup and node-based scripting for various encounters and activities.
• Provide detailed design feedback on combat spaces to the Art Team.
• Collaborate with World Content Design Teams to ensure necessary support for bringing the game world to life.
• Work closely with the Game Code Team to develop powering systems.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Dutch school within a relevant field of study.
• Able to work on-site in the Amsterdam studio and residing within commuting distance.
• Available for an internship starting September 1st, 2026.
• Experience with 3D world and level building tools.
• Technical background in scripting and content setup, preferably using visual editors.

Nice to have

• Experience creating combat encounters, open-world quests, or activities.
• Experience designing open-world combat spaces.
• A strong passion for creating engaging gameplay experiences.
