Salary: $180,375 – $200,850 + Equity

What you will do

• Design and maintain scalable backend services powering authentication, authorization, and token lifecycle management.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including Product, Security, Trust & Safety, and Legal to build identity foundations.
• Drive technical excellence by contributing architectural perspectives and shaping long-term identity strategies.
• Mentor and support fellow engineers to foster a collaborative and high-trust environment.
• Lead system design discussions regarding security, performance, and scalability.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software development experience in backend engineering.
• Proficiency in at least one core backend language: Ruby, Java, Scala, Python, or Go.
• Production experience with relational (MySQL) and NoSQL (Redis, Cassandra) databases.
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and technologies like Kafka, Kubernetes, and Docker.
• Experience with or willingness to learn identity protocols including OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and WebAuthn.
• Must be able to work from the San Francisco office 3 days per week.
