Data Test Automation Engineer

Location: Hybrid working – minimum 2 days per week in the office in Basingstoke, London or Bristol. Being UK-based helps in this role.

Salary: £45,810 – £59,990

What you will do

• Build and maintain automation frameworks focused on data validation.
• Test data pipelines, APIs, and datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Support testing across AWS data platforms (S3, Glue, Athena).
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Create and manage synthetic test data to improve coverage.
• Identify gaps in current testing approaches and suggest improvements.

Requirements

• Experience with data testing and validation using Python (Pandas) and SQL.
• Experience contributing to or building automation frameworks (e.g. Pytest, Postman).
• Understanding of APIs and backend or microservice architectures.
• Familiarity with AWS data services such as S3, Glue or Athena.
• Experience working with CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.

Nice to have

• Exposure to tools like Great Expectations or similar.
• Understanding of data quality principles and validation strategies.
