What you will do

• Define strategic research vision for scalable data platforms, distributed AI, and intelligent visualization.
• Set technical architecture principles for training and deploying AI models at scale, optimizing for edge and real-time responsiveness.
• Advance the frontier of AI/ML, NLP, data mining, and cognitive systems.
• Build, mentor, and scale world-class research teams within the Advanced Technology Group.
• Collaborate with global leadership to align innovation with business outcomes and research agendas.
• Represent the organization externally through publications, keynotes, and strategic partnerships.

Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent research leadership experience.
• 15+ years of experience in advanced research and senior technical leadership.
• Proven track record of high-impact research through influential publications, patents, or widely adopted technologies.
• Deep expertise in Distributed Systems, Edge Computing, and AI Infrastructure.
• Experience leading globally distributed, matrixed research organizations.
• Must be based in or able to work from San Francisco, CA (Hybrid).
