Location: This is a hybrid role with the expectation to work onsite from our NYC, San Francisco, or Seattle hub location three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

Salary: $212,000 - $250,000 USD Annually

What you will do

• Own backend services and APIs end to end — from technical design through implementation, deployment, and ongoing reliability.
• Drive architectural decisions within your team, bringing structure and clarity to complex, ambiguous problem spaces.
• Lead improvements to core platform systems, including data pipelines, service reliability, and business logic.
• Design and enable safe, repeatable experimentation through robust A/B testing and analysis workflows.
• Diagnose and resolve data quality, performance, and correctness issues across systems.
• Partner closely with Product, Design, and Data to translate goals into technical designs and execution plans.

Requirements

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with meaningful ownership of production backend systems.
• Deep backend engineering expertise, including service design, data modeling, and API development at scale.
• Experience building and operating systems where reliability, data quality, and performance are critical.
• Proven ability to operate in ambiguous problem spaces and drive clarity across technical and cross-functional stakeholders.
• A highly data-driven mindset, comfortable with experimentation, measurement, and optimization from both product and technical perspectives.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with a track record of influencing cross-functional partners including Product, Design, and Data Science.

• Experience using AI-assisted dev tools (e.g., Cursor, GitHub Copilot)
