TL;DR
Senior Data Engineer (AI): Developing data software applications, platforms, and products with an accent on AI-powered tools, workflow automation, and modern data engineering pipelines. Focus on building automated frameworks, integrating ML/LLM capabilities into pipelines, and ensuring scalability and security of distributed systems.
Location: Must be based in Costa Rica. Role is remote home-based with hybrid flexibility

What you will do
- Lead the implementation of AI and LLM-based tooling to automate data engineering workflows.
- Build automated frameworks for data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration.
- Integrate AI/ML capabilities into pipelines including anomaly detection and pattern recognition.
- Design technical solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
- Provide ongoing production support, troubleshoot data pipelines, and conduct root-cause analysis.
- Produce technical documentation and participate in architectural decision-making.
Requirements
- Must be based in Costa Rica
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in commercial software development
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering
- Expert-level proficiency in Python, PySpark, and SQL
- Strong experience with AWS cloud services (e.g., Redshift, Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB)
- Demonstrated experience using AI/LLM tools for code generation and automation
Nice to have
- Familiarity with MLOps and model deployment workflows
- Experience building scalable, resilient distributed systems
