Groom Artist: Creating photo realistic grooms for VFX projects with an accent on matching onset data and translating reference groom material onto fantasy creatures. Focus on feather and plumage work.

Location: Hybrid role based in Old Street, UK, requiring a minimum of 2 days a week in the studio. Must have a current and full work permit for the region.

What you will do

• Provide a range of grooms including human hair styles, creature grooms, feathers, and peach fuzz.
• Contribute to workflow and pipeline discussions for grooming, aiding in documenting workflows.
• Liaise with other departments involved in the creature workflow, such as Modeling, Rigging, Animation, Lighting, and CFX.
• Meet set schedules and deadlines while maintaining the highest standards.
• Regularly communicate with Production and Leads regarding schedules and deadlines.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a similar role.
• Experienced in Houdini’s grooming tools.
• Understanding of grooms CFX requirements.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Team-oriented crew member with good communication skills.
